Crawling Insect Control

At Sunshine Coast Pest Control Ltd in line with I.P.M. regulations we offer four different crawling insect control solutions:

• Monitoring
• Wood Restoration
• Baits
• Chemical intervention

Monitoring

PESTICIDE FREE SOLUTION -  ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE

Before we can determine the correct course of treatment, we need to monitor to establish the type of insect and the injury level. This can be achieved in by customer observations and also by the use of exterior insect monitors. These are placed around the structure and are checked at regular intervals. They are non toxic and contain a glue board which will trap any crawling insects wander into the monitor.

For customers who contract to our Gold and Silver Exterior Insect Control Program, insect monitors are included in the package.

Wood Restoration

PESTICIDE FREE SOLUTION -  ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE

The presence of cornfield ants and sow / pill bugs is usually an indication moisture problems. The best way to keep these pests out of your home is by eliminating moisture problems; caulking cracks, crevices and other openings; screening windows and doors; maintaining good sanitation conditions and by removing objects from around the home which they like to nest under such as wood piles, rocks and bark mulch.

Once the moisture problem has been solved, the replacement of damp and rotten wood with treated lumber is also advisable.

Baits

Different crawling insects respond to baits with varying degrees of success. Our experience has shown that one bait does not fit all and you should be wary of any salesman in a garden centre, home improvement centre or box store who tries to sell you a product without determining the insect species.

At Sunshine Coast Pest Control Ltd once we have determined the pest we are dealing with, we use the correct bait of the insect and the time of year. All exterior baits are placed in secure and labelled tamper proof containers. Interior baits are only used if there is no risk to children and pets.

Chemical Intervention

For many customers their injury level for crawling insects is very low. Others live in properties with a history of a crawling insect infestation. In theses cases the use of a pesticide may be the most appropriate course of action.

Pesticides can be applied to the interior or exterior of a building. In most cases an exterior perimeter treatment to the outside of the property is the best way to create a barrier that the target pest cannot cross without dying.

At Sunshine Coast Pest Control Ltd we offer three levels of exterior insect control programs (see preparation sheet):

Bronze

• A single application of insecticide to the exterior of the property.

Silver

• Installation of insect monitors;
• Completion of detailed inspection report;
• Initial application of insecticide to the exterior of property;
• Follow up inspection of monitors and reapplication of insecticide (if required).

Gold

• Installation of insect monitors;
• Completion of detailed inspection report;
• Initial application of insecticide to the exterior of property;
• Follow up inspection of monitors and reapplication of insecticide (if required).
• Final inspection of monitors and reapplication of insecticide (if required).
