On Wednesday May 7th, 2008, Sechelt played host to the Journey of the Spirit Pole exhibition. A hands on display of a 20ft cedar tree donated by the Squamish people after it came down in Stanley Park in the 2006 storms. The Spirit Pole was carved under the guidance of Carey Newman. The visit to Sechelt was arranged by The Sunshine Coast Spirit of BC Committee to celebrate BC150 Years. Charles Jeffery is the committees, Youth Director and co-ordinated the visit by school children from SD46. |
