Maintenance and Wood Restoration
PESTICIDE FREE SOLUTION - ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE
Although it can be difficult and in some cases impossible, to prevent subterranean termites from entering a structure, efforts to do so are encouraged. As previously mentioned, good sanitation and maintenance practices are cornerstone in preventing unwanted termite activity. Avoid all wood to soil contact using anything but cellulose containing objects for landscape or other exterior applications. Address water problems quickly and caulk or otherwise seal all expansion joints; pipe, drain, electrical and vent chases and any and all other openings in slabs, sidewalks, driveways and skim coats.
If we do determine that a termite treatment is necessary, we recommend that after treatment, the extent of the termite damaged wood is investigated. This is known as wood restoration and termite damaged wood that is part of the structural integrity of the building should be replaced with treated lumber (or treated with an insecticide.
